Biography

Nancy “Naz” N. Butcher was born in Tripoli, Libya and immigrated with her family in 1975 to Louisiana, where she was raised. After graduating from River Oaks High School in Monroe, Louisiana, she attended Southern Methodist University where she received a B.S. in Political Science. Naz attended Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, and was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association in 1996.

After law school, Naz worked as a federal law clerk for the Honorable Donald E. Walter, United States District Court Judge, Western District of Louisiana. Upon completion of her clerkship, Naz began practicing law in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she gained significant litigation and trial experience in the areas of premises liability, pharmaceutical defense, insurance defense, and appeals. Naz moved to St. Tammany Parish with her husband in 2000, and continued practicing in these fields of law, as well as in the areas of construction litigation, commercial litigation, and automobile litigation.

Naz is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. Naz resides with her husband, Jay, and their three children in Mandeville Louisiana.
